This professional development sequence covers a rollout of Phase 1, Goal 2, through Phase 2, Goal 1. This sequence was created by the Partnership for six collaborating districts in Schoharie County comprising more than 5,000 students. Audiences vary for the steps outlined below.

PD #1: Phase 1, Goal 2 (full day)
Audience: All teachers
- Regional PD Day Planning Sheets (Excel)
This full-day presentation includes an introduction of the Next Generation ELA, math and literacy standards, highlighting available resources including blueprints for students with disabilities and English language learners, crosswalks and literacy briefs.
PD #2: Phase 1, Goal 2 (2 hours)
Audience: Teacher facilitators from all subject/grade levels
- Knowledge, Skills and Understanding: Gaining a Better Understanding of the Standards (PPT)

This training walks teachers through slides and guided notes while participating in experiences.
PD #3: Phase 1, Goal 2 (full day)
Audience: All teachers
This presentation breaks the standards down by knowledge, skills and understanding. Activities in break-out groups are included.
PD #4: Phase 2, Goal 1 (2 1/2 days)
Audience: Administrators
This training walks administrators through the next steps of teacher training, including participating in the same work that teachers will be asked to do. (See links below for vocabulary activity that is used for both PD #4 and PD #5.)

PD #5: Phase 2, Goal 1 (2 full days)
Audience: ELA and math teacher representatives in all grade bands/subjects

Math and ELA teachers representing all grade bands and subjects will come together to learn how to gain a common understanding of vocabulary; prioritize standards and complete work for their grade/subject; interpret state and local testing data; and create teaching points for each standard. A vocabulary activity (see above) is also included.
PD #6: Phase 2, Goal 1 (2 hours)
Audience: Teacher facilitators from all subject/grade levels

Teacher facilitators are trained for breakout sessions (PD #7) by being walked through slides and guided notes while participating in experiences. Also used for this presentation is the handout of Bloom’s Taxonomy Digital Planning Verbs from PD #5, above.
PD #7: Phase 2, Goal 1 (full day)
Audience: All teachers
This activity takes a deeper look at the standards, introduces prioritizing standards, developing teaching points and next steps in the process of creating standards. Breakout groups, organized by band/subject, will work to experience prioritizing standards, begin developing teaching points, and introduce curriculum unit templates and examples.
PD #8: Phase 2, Goal 1 (3 full days)
Audience: ELA and math teacher representatives from all districts in all grade bands/subjects
